Dates: February 5-8, 2026

Location: 30 minutes north of the Kansas City International Airport (near Agency Missouri).

The Art Nest: Your Mid‑Mod Quilting Haven

Tucked in the calm of the Missouri countryside and just 30 minutes north of Kansas City International Airport, The Art Nest is a 12,000‑sq‑ft barndominium that mixes bold mid-century‑modern design with open, creative energy.

This place is built for makers like us. The main workspace comfortably fits up to 28 creatives, so you’ll have room to spread out, stay organized, and keep your creative flow going. Beyond the sewing zone, you’ll find:

Two cozy living rooms — perfect for evening chatter or regrouping between sewing sessions
A hot tub and fitness area — because comfy bodies make better stitchers
A TV/media room and the Crows Nest Lounge — chill zones for brainstorming or winding down
A sun porch to soak up natural light and fresh ideas
A fire pit outside — ideal for starlight quilting talk or sharing project wins at night
And the show‑stopper: the largest Quilt Library in the region, full of inspiration.

The Art Nest facility is a quilter's dream—spacious, thoughtfully designed with adjustable tables and chairs, (semi)private rooms with ensuite baths, and comfy vintage décor. Nicole is a warm, welcoming host with every detail impeccably covered including excellent meals and an optional group project. Overall, a lovely experience of creativity, comfort, and fellowship.

You will love sewing HERE!

Sewing at The Art Nest is next-level. Every guest gets their own adjustable-height, heavy-duty sewing table—no wobbly folding tables here. These are built to handle full-speed sewing without shifting an inch. The chairs are incredibly comfortable, with wide seats, supportive backs, and full mobility—they roll, swivel, and tilt. Honestly, I wish I had one in my own studio. You’ll also find plenty of cutting stations, design walls throughout the space, and fantastic lighting so you can work any time of day or night. Power cords are mounted above the tables, so no crawling around on the floor hunting for outlets. Best of all? There’s plenty of power throughout the facility. Everyone can run their own mini iron without tripping a breaker—something that’s been a real problem at other retreat spaces. This place was built for quilters, and it shows.

Retreat Project:

Taking Flight Quilt Block

Every participant will receive a Taking Flight quilt block pattern and a coordinating fabric bundle.

This modern and versatile design can be made into a pillow, wall hanging, table topper—or keep going and turn it into a full quilt!

We’ll work on the blocks together throughout the retreat, and you’ll go home with something you’re proud of.

This retreat weekend was wonderful! Nicole has a gift for hosting. She planned and prepared all our delicious meals. We sewed at our comfortable sewing stations, enjoying when Nicole came out to say "Food is ready!" The facility is very large, so it was easy to go to your room for a quiet nap or reading time. We all loved taking breaks for a massage in the massage chair too! The sewing area is separate from the rooms, so people could stay up late to sew, or get up early and not bother others. Each room has it's own bathroom so we were all very comfortable. This retreat was truly a respite from the daily stresses of life.

Overnight Accomodations

Retreat guests will stay in one of 8 thoughtfully designed bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. The rooms include a mix of twin and full beds, all with fresh linens, towels, fans, hair dryers, luggage racks, nightstands, outlets, and secure keypad locks. Most bedrooms are located on the ground floor for easy access, while a few are upstairs and accessible by stairs only (there is no elevator on the property). Bathrooms are private and attached to each room—most have walk-in showers, and a couple include step-in tubs with showers. Whether you’re coming solo or with friends, you’ll have a cozy, clean, and private space to relax and recharge.

I LOVED getting to sew most of the day/evening and breaking for delicious meals that I didn't have to think about making!

I enjoyed meeting new people and learning tips from them. The trunk show was so fun to see the many talents of everyone!

I also loved having giveaways and winning the Oliso iron and big bottle of starch!

We already have it on our calendar to come back in 2026.

Easy & Affordable

We want to make this retreat as accessible and affordable as possible, so we’ve set up an easy payment plan to spread out the cost. To reserve your seat, all you need to do is pay a $25 deposit—the rest will be billed in three automatic (monthly) payments leading up to the retreat.

Payment Schedule:

• Pay Now: $25 to reserve your spot

•1st Auto Payment: $133.33

• 2nd Auto Payment: $133.33

• 3rd Auto Payment: $133.33

That’s less than $425.00 total for a weekend of quilting, relaxation, and fun! By making the $25 deposit, your spot is secured. However, if a payment is missed, all funds paid will be forfeited, and we will activate our waitlist. Don’t wait too long—spaces are limited, and you won’t want to miss this retreat!
